Hiking Baldy Mountain - Garmin Connect →
Had a great day hiking Baldy Mountain with Melissa! Despite being September, the temperature for a lot of the hike was in the high 30s, which with the wind made for a very cold hike. We made it to the second false summit at 13,200 feet before getting too tired and cold to continue.

Wow this was the hardest 1.2 miles I’ve ever done. Almost straight up for the 1700 feet to the summit.

Hiked most of Peak 8, starting from the mid-mountain lift. Hiked around the bowl, some parts were straight uphill.

More strenuous than we thought.
Also, WE SAW A BEAR! Right in the middle of the ski slope a bear nonchalantly walked across, not more than 100 feet behind Melissa. It was a smallish brown bear, but still very cool and intimidating.

Melissa and I spent the morning hiking to Strawberry Lake. The initial 1.5 miles was all uphill making for a nice challenge for our first real hike in Colorado.
